So a few weeks back, my friend passed me this album and told me to listen to it. This album was titled Ocean Eyes by this band called Owl City. So I had a listen and I guess I really liked what I heard – clearly so since I’m writing about it now which would either suggest I really loved the album or hated it, well not the latter thankfully.

I’ll start by stating that I have never really been a fan of electronic music but I guess I’d describe them as “electronic with a tune a arrangement” which does appeal to me. It’s surprisingly not all loud with that reverberating bass beat that ends up leaving poor listeners with an eternal headache. Instead as I purported above – electronic with a tuneful arrangement, they seem to find a good balance between the array electronic sounds and some real instrument sounds to create pop-indi music with a modern, somewhat relaxing feel.

So it seems that they’re not really new in the music scene – launching their first album titled “Of June” in 2007 but I suppose they haven’t really ben getting much attention till recently for their album “Ocean Eyes” – namely the single “Vanilla Twilight”.

Well overall I’d say a good chill out band and album if you’re sick of the mainstream pop ballads and not very into the whole rock or techno stuff.

Check out their website here – and you can even preview their music. Of you can buy their album “Ocean Eyes” over at Amazon.

wakeywakey

Recently just found a band called Wakey! Wakey! haha yeah the name is kinda funny but I have to say I quite like their style. I first heard them on the season finale of One Tree Hill season 6 the song playing was War Sweater.

They are fronted by lead singer and pianist Mike Grubbs so yes their songs are seemingly piano driven (now we all know why I love this band). Nevertheless, musical-musician biased aside, I have to say their band dynamics are pretty darn interesting really, going beyond the usual guitar drums and bass rocking kinda feel they also have the piano element adding the crisp classical feel and not to mention the solo violin which gives all the songs such a unique melancholic flavor. A band that merges Indi, Classical and Rock. Love it.

You can check them out on their MySpace page.

Remembering You - Steven Curtis Chapman

Remembering You - Steven Curtis Chapman

I think the words speak for themselves. God’s power and love is present in every little thing around us, yet we often miss it when we’re caught up in everyday life.

I found You in the most unlikely way
But really it was You who found me
And I found myself in the gifts that You gave
You gave me so much and I

I wish You could stay
but I’ll, I’ll wait for the day

And I watch as the cold winter melts into spring
And I’ll be remembering You
Oh and I’ll smell the flowers and hear the birds sing
and I’ll be remembering You, I’ll be remembering You

From the first moment when I heard Your name
Something in my heart came alive
You showed me love and no words could explain
A love with the power to
Open the door
To a world I was made for

The dark night, the hard fight
The long climb up the hill knowing the cost
The brave death, the last breathe
The silence whispering all hope was lost
The thunder, the wonder
A power that brings the dead back to life

I wish You could stay
But I’ll wait for the day
And though You’ve gone away
You come back and

And I watch as the cold winter melts into spring
And I’ll be remembering You
Oh and I’ll smell the flowers and hear the birds sing
and I’ll be remembering You, I’ll be remembering You

And I’ll watch as the sun fills a sky that was dark
And I’ll be remembering You
And I’ll think of the way that You fill up my heart
And I’ll be remembering You
